Professionals may either apply or be nominated for membership to the NFI.

Professionals who are NIDCAP Certified may apply for membership.
[Note: The application forms are fillable MS Word documents which can be completed electronically after saving the file to one's desktop.] 

• Professionals who have completed the Advanced Practicum:
  Please complete the Professional Membership Application Form and attach a Letter of Sponsorship written by your NIDCAP Trainer or NIDCAP Training Center Director.
• Professionals who received certification before the Advanced Practicum:

  To be eligible you must be involved in developmentally supportive NICU work. Please complete the Professional Membership Application Form and attach a Letter of Sponsorship written by your NIDCAP Trainer or NIDCAP Training Center Director. This letter must confirm your developmentally supportive practices.

Professionals who are supportive of the NFI’s mission and closely associated with NIDCAP work may be nominated for membership.

• You must be nominated by a NIDCAP Trainer or a NIDCAP Training Center Director. The Trainer or Director must complete the Professional Membership Nomination Form on your behalf.

NIDCAP Student Memberships

Professionals who are in the process of receiving NIDCAP training may apply for student membership.

• Please complete the NIDCAP Student Membership Application Form, and attach a Letter of Sponsorship written by your NIDCAP Trainer that confirms your training status.

All applicants, nominees, and student applicants must be approved by the NFI Board of Directors to become members.

• May be listed in the NFI Certified NIDCAP Professionals List on the NFI website
• Receive NFI publications
• May attend the annual Members’ Meeting
• Vote on NFI matters

Once the NFI Board of Directors has approved your application, you will receive an Acceptance Letter and an invoice for your dues. Annual dues cover the period from October 1st through September 30th of each year. After your initial invoice, you will receive invoices to renew your membership annually.
